Public Service Announcements are all over the world we live in. They pull at our emotions, seek for connection, and desire to move us to action. 

The last few weeks we have been working on designing a Public Service Announcement for a topic of our choice. I chose to focus on education. As I began the process, I started by selecting the following slogan: “Expand your Mind, Expand the world” - however I felt that there needed to be a more specific focus. My goal in using higher education as my base was to encourage people to apply now for higher education and to open their minds to new avenues in their personal worlds. 

I thought of a few different avenues that I could take, and with the help of conversing with classmates, my instructor and bouncing ideas off of those around me, I realized that I needed to focus on Higher education and how this specific part of education could expand my mind and world.

As seen above, I initially started out with the basic ‘education’ objects - books, an apple, a globe. Things that were ‘expected’. However, my instructor pushed me to try to think outside of the box. This is when I came across the concept of fish eye world or a panoramic world in photoshop. This was a concept that was completely new to me, but it was fun to learn something new that definitely stretched my abilities. 

A short note for the typography that I had chosen to use. I wanted to use something that was a little bit ‘outside this world’ since the view would be a graduate holding a different part of the world, I wanted it to be a sleek type that was bold. This is when I came across Above typeface. To contrast, I used a Bakersville typeface in my subhead.

And just like that, there you have it- my Public Service Announcement.
